Reminder of April 17, 2018 AGM

Dear CSSA Members,

The on-ice portion of the 2017-2018 CSSA season has come to a close and we hope it has been an enjoyable, challenging and rewarding experience for all.  However, this doesn’t mean that the season is at an end.  We still have our Annual General Meeting (“AGM”) and Gala this month and starting in May we will be ramping up our Summer Training Programs.

Further to our March 9, 2017 e-mail, our April 17, 2018 AGM is fast approaching.  The AGM is your opportunity to: review CSSA’s financial status; provide to your Board members feedback on the year that was; to ask questions; and, perhaps most important, elect a new Board of Directors who will immediately start planning for the start of the 2018-2019 season.

We will also have sign up sheets for the various Committees, as outlined in the By-laws.  This is an excellent way for members to get directly involved in helping shape and implement CSSA policies and programs (and participation on these committees count towards your volunteer hours).

Included with this e-mail are a number of documents that we hope that you will have the time to review prior to the AGM.  The most important of these is the notice that outlines the nomination and voting process that will be followed for the election of the new Board of Directors.  In addition, we have also attached the: Minutes of the 2017 AGM; CSSA 2017 Financial Statements; Board of Director Position Descriptions; CSSA By-Laws; and, Member Proxy Form. An Agenda for the meeting will be provided prior to April 17.

We are very pleased to see that many of the current Board members have agreed to be nominated and stand for election to serve on the Board for one more season, whether in their current roles or in new roles.  We also extend our deepest gratitude to those Directors who are retiring from the Board at the AGM which include: Cameron Schepp, Vice-President; Ailsa LeMay, Vice-Chair Development; and, Kanchana Varnasooriya, Vice-Chair Volunteers.  We appreciate and value their commitment to CSSA and are grateful that they will continue to contribute to the CSSA in the years to come.

For the CSSA to continue to grow and improve we need the help and input of all our members, so please consider participating on the Board or through one of the various Committees.

My sincere thanks to all of the Directors and to every one of our members, We would not be able to run the CSSA without your commitment and all the volunteer hours that each and every one of you provide to the CSSA through the course of the season.  It has been a pleasure working with you this season and I hope to see you at the AGM and the Gala later in April (details to follow).
